Lebo and Madison trade wins on Area Game of the Week-Area Scores-Flint Hills Shoot Out Featured

The Lebo girls and Madison boys both clinched victories on the area game of the week Tuesday night.

In the girl's game, the Lady Wolves would overcome a slow start to defeat Madison 40-26.

Madison would jump out to the lead early in a low scoring first quarter and hold Lebo to just four points before a 14-8 run in the second would see Lebo take an 18-15 lead into the locker room. In the second half, Lebo would utilize a near five minute 11-0 run and never trail en route to their eighth win of the season.

Lebo was led in scoring by sophomore Abby Peek with 14 points. Freshman Yolaine Luthi would lead Madison and all scorers with 17-points.

Lebo head coach Patrick Gardner says despite the score, Madison really pushed his team.

With the win, Lebo improves to 8-2 on the season as Madison falls to 1-10.

In the boy's game, Madison would manage to come out on top of a back and forth affair to pick up a 45-41 win over the Lebo Wolves.

Madison would lead by three towards the end of the first quarter before a three-pointer from Lebo junior Devan McEwen would see the teams tied at 11 to end the first. In the second Madison would overtake the lead and never trail in the second taking a one-point 20-19 lead into the locker room.

The second half would see a total of six lead changes before a 10-2 Madison run in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter would put the Bulldogs far enough ahead to seal the win. Madison had 2 players finish the night in double digits and were led by sophomore Drew Stutseman with 16 points. Junior Ryan Wolgram ended the night with 12 points.

Lebo also had two players end the night in double digits as McEwen led his team with 15-points and senior Kaden Ott ended the night with 11.

Madison Head Coach Brett Dannels says composure was the key to their victory.

With the win, Madison claims a share of the Lyon County League regular-season championship and improves to 10-0 on the season as Lebo drops to 9-1.
