
In the girl’s game, Madison managed to come out on top over Hartford in a game that saw seven lead changes and four ties 45-40.
The Lady Bulldogs opened the scoring with back-to-back three-point shots to build a quick 6-0 lead. Hartford would respond and the lead would change four times before Madison managed to take a one-point lead into the quarter break 15-14.
In the second, Madison and Hartford would again trade the lead back and forth before ending the half even at 24. Madison would narrowly outscore Hartford 10-9 in the third to take a lead they would never relinquish. Hartford would come as close as two to tying the game but could never retake the lead.
Madison sophomore Reese Farrow led all scorers with 15 points on the night. Fellow sophomore Sarah Miser added 11.
Coach Vanessa Kresin says Friday’s matchup was everything they expected.
Hartford was led in scoring by junior Keirnan Breshears with 11 points.
Madison now improves to 6-5 on the season as Hartford falls to 2-7.
In the boy’s game, Madison shrugged off a slow start to defeat the Jaguars 61-22.
Madison and Hartford traded the lead twice and tied four times in the first before Madison would use an 8-0 run to establish a lead they’d never give up as they would carry a 32-19 lead into the half. A 24-0 run in the third and shutout in the fourth quarter would seal the win for the Bulldogs.
Madison was led in scoring by senior Chase Harrison with 15 points. Seniors Brome Rayburn and Ryan Wolgram added 12 points each.
Head Coach Brett Dannels says his team managed to loosen up as the game went on.
Hartford was led in scoring by sophomore Ali Smith with 10 points.
Madison now improves to 9-2 on the season as Hartford falls to 2-9.
