The Emporia State baseball team closed out the regular season with a series sweep at the hands of Northwest Missouri State, losing 12-6 Sunday.
The Hornets built an early 5-1 lead, but the Bearkats scored three runs in the 4th, two in the 7th, and six in the 8th to hold off ESU.
Northwest beat ESU 7-3 on Saturday and 4-3 on Friday.
The Hornets will begin the postseason this Thursday, May 9, when they take on Pittsburg State in the first round of the MIAA Tournament at Ortolani Field in Pittsburg, Kan. The Hornets are the 5th seed, the Gorillas the 4th seed. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
