Glass Blown open moves into final day

The final round of the Glass Blown open will be played Saturday. After the first two rounds in the Mens open division Paul McBeth of Huntington Beach, California and defending champion is tied for first place with Cameron Todd of Wingate, North Carolina for first place at 16 under par. Emporian Eric McCabe is tied for 8th place at 12 under par. In the womens open division Catrina Allen of Madison, Tennessee has the lead at 6 under par. Emporian Paige Bjerkass is in 3rd place at plus 5. The mens and womens open division will play the final round at the Emporia Country Club.

Emporians wrap up play in Kings Cup

The International Kings Cup wrapped up Friday in Ireland. Team USA and Team Ireland finished in a tie with Ireland winning in a play-off on the first hole. In the singles matches Friday Emporian Chris Vasholtz halved his match 18-18. Dave Watts was defeated 23-13 in his match. In team match play Vasholtz and Watts were defeated on day 1 24-12 and on day 2 21-15.

Emporia State mens 4x400 relay advances at Drake Relays

The Emporia State mens 4 by 400 relay team of Parker Evans, Duke Tibbs, Wyatt Sander and Taysean Goodwin advanced to the final with the 3rd fastest prelim time at the Drake Relays Friday.

Emporia High girls 1st boys 8th at Seaman Relays

The Emporia High girls track team finished in 1st place at the Seaman Relays Friday. The Girls 4 by 400 relay team of Alexis Davies, Linnea Meier, Paige Schmid and Taylor Cooper had the fasest time. Elizabeth Schwerdtfeger had the best long jump and Jennica Smith won the javelin. The Emporia High boys finished in 8th place. Mason Mohn had the fasest time in the 200 meter dash. The Olpe boys 4 by 800 relay team also picked up a gold medal.

Emporia High divers at Manhattan

The Emporia High girls diving team was at Manhattan Friday. Rylie Templeton finished in 3rd place in the 11 dive competition. Rylie Fornelli placed 1st and Hayden Hawkins 4th in the 6 dive competition.
