Rain halted play in the tennis duels between Emporia State and Northwest Missouri State Thursday night. The Lady Hornets won 2 of 3 doubles matches. Northwest won 2 of the 3 mens doubles matches. They were in the middle of singles play when rain arrived. They will resume the matches at a later date. Friday the Emporia State women host Missouri Western in a duel beginning at 3pm on the Emporia State George Milton Courts.
The season for the Emporia State womens basketball team came to and end Wednesday in the final 4 of the NCAA Division II womens basketball tournament. California, Pennsylvania out scored the Lady Hornets 51-46.

The Emporia State baseball team scored 3 runs in the top of the 9th to defeat Central Missouri 6-3 Tuesday.
The Emporia High girls soccer team opened their season with a 10-0 win over Highland Park.
The Emporia State Lady Hornets are among the final 8 teams in the NCAA Division II national tournament. They will face West Texas A&M in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II tournament.
Emporia High dedicated the Jones Activity Center Monday evening.
The Jones Activity Center can be used by most Emporia High athletic teams and PE classes. The process to build the facility began in 2011. Emporia High Athletic Director Curtis Simon join the process in 2013.
The Emporia High Wrestling team will be one teams using the building. Coach Dustin Malone says it will make having practice easier.
During inclement weather all door sports will be able use the building, including football. Coach Corby Milleson says that is a big bonus.
Track Coach Randy Wells also plans to use the building.
Baseball Coach Shawn Wilson is impressed with the building.
