MAYB Week two 2016

After day 1 of the Emporia MAYB tournament the Emporia High boys varsity is undefeated at 3-0. The Emporia II team is 2 and 2. Olpe is also 2-2 and Madison 0-3 in the 11th-12th grade division. The Mid-East League All-Stars are also 3-0.
In the 7th and 8th grade division the Emporia 8th graders are 3-0. The Emporia 7th graders are 2-1. Americus is 2-1 and Madison is 0-3. The MAYB tournament wraps up Sunday with games being played at Emporia High School.

NASCAR AT New Hampshire, Jimmie Johnson has pole

(ABCSports) NASCAR is at New Hampshire for this todays Sprint Cup series race. Jimmie Johnson has the pole. Clint Bowyer will start from the 32nd spot. Kevin Harvick is the points leader entering the race. He has a four-point edge over Brad Keselowski.

Emporian Megan Hilbish is competing at the NRA National Smallbore Match in Bristol, Indiana. Kansas City Royals at Detroit to end All-Star break

The Kansas City Royals return to action Friday night. They begin a 3 game series with the Detroit Tigers. Ian Kennedy gets the start for the Royals and Justin Verlander will be the starting pitcher for the Tigers. First pitch is set for 6:10.
The Royals begin play tied for 3rd place in the AL Central with the Chicago White Sox. They are a half game back of 2nd place Detroit and 7 games back of first place Cleveland.

Emporia AAA to close out regular season at Ottawa

The Emporia Senior American Legion baseball team is scheduled to play a single 9 inning game at Ottawa tonight. Its the final regular season game and final tune up before next weeks Zone tournament. Post 5 will be hosting the tournament that will begin on Tuesday with Emporia playing Junction City. Wednesday the winner will play Chanute. The top 2 teams will advance to AAA State tournament.
