Emporia State baseball rallys for 5-4 win over Fort Hays State

The Emporia State baseball team goes for the sweep of Fort Hays State Sunday afternoon. Saturday Daniel LaMunyon hit a 3 run home run in the 8th inning lifting the Hornets to a 5-4 win over Fort Hays. Ryan McBroom hit a solo home run in the 6th to tie the game at 2. Fort Hays scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take a 4-2 lead. Taylor Thompson was the winning pitcher tossing 2 innings of relief giving up no runs on 2 hits. Nathan Whitcomb picked up his 5th save. The Hornets are now 18-4 and 7-1 in MIAA play.

Emporia State tennis teams defeat Arkansas Fort Smith

The Emporia State mens and womens tennis teams picked up wins over Arkansas Fort Smith Saturday. The Emporia State men defeated Fort Smith 8 matches to 1. The Emporia State women won their match 6 matches to 3.

Emporia State baseball run rules Fort Hays 15-1

Emporia States baseball team run ruled Fort Hays State 15-1 in 8 innings Friday. The Hornets took a 3-0 lead with 3 runs in the 3rd. They exploded with 6 runs in the 5th. B.J. Dean and Mason Brown hit 2 run home-runs. The Hornets added 5 runs in the 8th scoring 4 runs on 4 straight singles. Seth Holman was the winning pitcher going 6 innings giving up 1run on 5 hits. The Hornets improve to 6-1 in MIAA play with the win. Emporia State and Fort Hays State play a single game Saturday. 

Emporia State softball splits doubleheader with Newman

Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Newman Friday. Newman won the first game  9-8 after scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th. The Lady Hornets took a 7-2 lead after scoring 6 runs in the 5th highlighted by Hailey Copes 3 run home-run. The Lady Hornets bounced back to win the 2nd game 4-0. Eryn Stockman tossed a complete game 2 hitter with 7 strikeouts. McKenna Davis drove in 2 runs with a single in the 3 run 3rd inning. She also drove in a run in the 4th. With the split the Lady Hornets are now 17-13 for the season. They will play at Northeastern State on Tuesday.
