Emporia State tennis ends Spring Break trip with wins at Lindenwood

The Emporia State mens and womens tennis teams ended their spring break trip, that saw them play 4 duels in 5 days in 4 citys. with wins over Lindenwood. The Emporia State men won their duel 7 matches to 2 to improve to 9-2 for the season. The Emporia State women won their duel 6 matches to 3 to improve to 5-3 for the season.

Harding defeats Emporia State tennis teams

Harding defeated both the Emporia State mens and womens tennis teams Tuesday. Harding won the mens duel 5 matches to 1. The number 2 doubles team of Gerard Pont and Oliver Dixon had the lone win for the Hornets. Harding won the womens duel 8-1. The number 2 doubles team of Sarah Durham and Kaley Clark had the lone win for the Lady Hornets. Wednesday they play at Lindenwood.

Harding advances to final 4. OKC wins NAIA title

Tuesday at the NCAA Division II womens Elite 8 Harding held on for a 73-69 win over Queens to advance to the final 4.
Harding will face #1 ranked Ashland in the semi-finals. Ashland defeated West Texas A&M 82-67.
In the other first round games Virginia Union defeated Columbus State 78-73 and Cal Baptist out scored West Florida 77-69.
Oklahoma City University won the NAIA Division I womens championship, out scoring Lewis Clark 73-66. Former Olpe standout Janae Haag is a part of the Oklahoma City team. She scored 2 points and grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 2 assists.

Emporia States Kelly Moten named WBCA Player of Year

Add National player of the Year to the post season honors earned by Emporia State Senior Kelly Moten. Moten was named the Division II player of the year by the Womens Basketball Coaches Association. She is also a WBCA All-American. Moten averaged 18 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds in helping lead the Lady Hornets to a 29-5 record. Moten is the 11th Lady Hornet to earn WBCA All-American honors and the first to be named National Player of the Year by the coaches organization. 
She is the 3rd Lady Hornet to receive National player of the year honors.
Emporia State has had two CoSIDA National Players of the Year - Emily Bloss in 2001 and Tara Holloway in 2000.

3 Emporia High Volleyball players selected for KVA All-Star Match

3 members of the Emporia High volleyball team have been selected to play in the Kansas Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star match. Mikayla Simons, Lexi Longbine and Kelsey Gordon. The Emporia High Volleyball team finished in 4th place at the 5A State tournament. Kelsey Gordon and Mikayla Simons were both named to the All 5A state tournament team.
