The Kansas City Royals have avoided arbitration with pitchers Kelvin Herrera and Nate Karns. Herrera has signed a contract for over $7.9 million dollars. Karns signed a contract for over $1.3 million dollars. Royals now have just one arbitration-eligible player, right-hander Brandon Maurer.
Emporia Native Brian Turner has been named the General Manager of the Wichita Wingnuts baseball team. He takes over for Josh Robertson who is stepping down after 10 years as the teams General Manager and President. Turner has been with the Wingnuts organization for eight seasons, originally serving as the club’s Group Sales Manager. He has worked alongside Robertson as the Assistant General Manager for each of the past three years, while also serving as the Wingnuts Director of Corporate Sales.
