Tim was born in Lawrence, KS., which he consider's "God's country."  He moved to Topeka at age 7.  Then, after graduating from Shawnee Heights High school, he attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast sales.

Tim's love of radio developed at KY while serving as the play-by-play voice for the Lady Jayhawk basketball team and doing home games for men's basketball and football on the student radio station.  He also worked in the KU sports information office for 4 years.

Upon graduating in May of 1987, Tim began his radio career at KEGS-FM in Emporia (now KVOE-FM.  While there Tim worked in advertising sales and served as play-by-play voice for Emporia State University.  He began work at KVOE in October of 1988 in sales and as the voice of the Emporia High Spartans.

Tim married his wife Angie in 1988 and they have one daughter, Lauren.

Steve has been a part of KVOE's High School broadcast team, covering the Emporia High Spartans for 25+ years.  Only a few years during that time, Steve was with our sister FM (KVOE) doing color for area high school games.

Steve has worked with Tim Miller on KVOE, broadcasting Emporia High football and basketball for over two decades.  Steve graduated from Olpe High School and then earned a degree in marketing/management from Kansas State Teachers College (ESU).

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Steve was a U.S. Army Staff Sgt. from 1969-1970.  Married to Kathleen for over 50 years, the Inwoods have two children, Stephanie and Brian.

When not working as an account representative for KVOE, Steve enjoys golfing and sports.

Sean was born and raised in Eureka, KS.  After High School, he attended Butler County Community College in El Dorado on a radio scholarship.  At the time BCCC was just starting up student-run radio station KBTL-FM.  While preparing for the debut of that station, Sean began his on=air work at KAHS-AM in El Dorado.  KBTL-FM then went on the air in the Fall of 1996 with Sean as its first program director.  He helped run the station as well as organize a station-run concert in the spring of 1997.

After graduation from BCCC in the summer of 1997 with an Associates in Arts degree, Sean moved to Emporia and began working at KVOE in the summer of 1998 in a part-time position.  He became a full-time employee in January 2033 working mainly at nights.

Sean has one son, Levi, who is 4.  His interests include baseball (a lifetime Royals fan), reading, music, following wrestling (statewide and Puroresu) and Bonsai trees.

Scott was born at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where his father was stationed. His family moved to Alconbury Air Force Base in England when he was 4 and lived there for 4 years before being transferred back to the states.  Scott's Dad was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base outside San Antonio, Texas and the family lived in the small town of Schertz...15 minutes north of San Antonio.

Scott graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in 1992, then attended Southwest Texas State (now Texas State) University in San Marcos, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication in 1999.  While in college, he also served in the Army Reserves.

Scott got his start in radio at KGNB-AM in New Braunsfels, Texas.  He also worked for the San Antonio Spurs pre-game, halftime, and post-game radio broadcasts at WOAI-AM in San Antonio.

Scott started at KVOE in August of 2001 and was promoted to Program Director in 2010.  Scott is on the air from 9a-2p and is the play-by-play voice for the Area High School Game of the Week for football and basketball on KVOE-FM.  He also fills in on the Morning show, on news, and on sports.

He has two sons, Clay and Chris.

Greg has been the Sports Director for Emporia's Radio stations since August 1987.  During that time he has been recognized by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters with numerous awards for his work.  Besides the daily sportscasts on KVOE AM, Country 101.7 and Mix 104.9, Greg is also the broadcast voice of Emporia State Athletics.

Before joining Emporia's Radio stations, he worked in Great Bend at KZXL.  Greg has also worked at KAYS in Hayes, KXXX AM/FM in Colby and at KSAL and KSKG in Salina.

He is a graduate of Fort Hays State and Colby Community College and a 1980 graduate of Salina South High School.  Greg and his wife Bernie have two children, Daniel and Megan.

 

Chuck Samples is in his second stint leading the KVOE news department.

Samples started at KVOE in 2002 and became the station’s news director in 2010. After leaving KVOE briefly, Samples returned to radio in late 2017. Samples has won numerous Kansas Association of Broadcasters awards during his time at KVOE for news reporting, severe weather coverage and sports broadcasting.

A native of Omaha, Neb., Samples began his journalism career as a part-time staffer involved in news, severe weather and sports coverage at KLIN Radio in Lincoln, Neb. He has also worked in print journalism, serving the Wahoo (Neb.) Newspaper as a reporter and page designer and the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal-Star as a copy editor before coming to Emporia.

Samples and his wife, Ginny, a teacher’s aide at Emporia Middle School, have been advocates for foster care the past several years, having adopted two children from the state foster care system and preparing to adopt a third. The Samples have also started a support group for foster parents. Separately, the Samples have become advocates for research and awareness for neurofibromatosis, a neurological disorder that causes tumors on nerve pathways and can lead to developmental delays or physical issues, including blindness, for children.

In addition, Samples has also supported several causes, raising money for Special Olympics, St. Baldrick’s, SOS and the Muscular Dystrophy Association by participating in different fundraisers.

Samples considers himself a wide-ranging sports fan, listing his favorite teams as the Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Chiefs, Winnipeg Jets and all University of Nebraska sports. He also occasionally writes music and considers himself a retired amateur storm chaser.

Brandon was born in Spokane, Washington and spent much of his childhood in the Boise, Idaho area before moving to Kansas City at age 13. He graduated from Belton High School in Missouri in 2003 and went received his degree in Broadcasting from the University of Central Missouri in 2007.

Brandon got his first job in radio in 2008 at KWIX/KRES Radio in Moberly, MO where he was a news reporter. He also spent a few years as a restaurant manager for KFC in Olathe, KS before getting back into radio, working as Sports Director for KCNI/KBBN Radio in Broken Bow, Nebraska and News Director for KHAS-AM in Hastings, Nebraska.

He is a lifelong Royals and Chiefs fan and also roots for the Utah Jazz.

Brandon has been married for 11 years to his high school sweetheart Heidi.

They live in Emporia with their two daughters, Lorelei and Selena.

 

Ron Thomas was born in Montana and was raised on a wheat farm in Saskatchewan, Canada.  He began his broadcast career in 1980 at KLYC in Laurel, Montana.  After stints at KWIV in Douglas, Wyoming, KBFS Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and KLYC/KADR in Elkader Iowa, he landed in Emporia.

Ron began his duties with KVOE as afternoon news anchor in the spring of 1986. In 1988 he took over the morning drive shift on KVOE and was promoted to program director. After leaving the stations in 1990 to program KFIZ/WFON in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, he returned to take over as operations manager and morning personality in 1991. Ron was promoted to General Manager in January of 2009, and still hosts the morning show on KVOE with Chuck Samples and Greg Rahe.

Ron is a former Chairman of the Board of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, currently serves on the United Way of the Flint Hills Board of Directors, and will be the 2017 Chairman of the Board for the Kansas Association of Broadcasters.  A big sports fan, Ron has served as the PA voice for Emporia State basketball for 18 years.  He and his wife LaDonna have been married for 28 years and love living in Emporia with the family dog Buster.
