The local community celebrated the arrival of the fall season at the Orchard north of Emporia Saturday morning.
The second annual Orchard fall festival included numerous activities for patrons to enjoy including a custom miniature golf course, crafts for kids, food, a petting zoo and so much more. Organizer Sarah Lockyear says not only is the festival a celebration of the fall season, it also serves as an open house of sorts as the business begins its busy season.
The Orchard, located roughly six miles north of Emporia, has grown over the years into a large-scale operation after humble beginnings. In addition to fresh apples, the business also offers a selection of cheeses, ciders, honey and other fresh fruits and produces on a seasonal basis.
Orchard owner Bob Karr says he is amazed with how much the business has grown over the years. He says it has been a “work of passion.”
The Orchard is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sundays, and will remain open until mid-December.
