The Kansas City Royals have released their stadium plans for Jackson County and intend to build a $2 billion ballpark district in an area of Kansas City known as the Crossroads District. The stadium would be located just northeast of 17th and Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, just across from the T-Mobile Center. The Royals plan to build a pedestrian bridge connecting T-Mobile Center and the baseball stadium. The franchise released updated renderings for the stadium which will include team and corporate offices for the ball club along with entertainment, hotel, and residential space. The team also said that existing parking is adequate for the stadium and that major highway upgrades will not be needed. The stadium is projected to host its Opening Day for the 2028 baseball season. The plan is contingent on Jackson County voters passing an extension of a 3/8th cent sales tax for 40 years. The measure will be on the ballot for the upcoming General Municipal election April 2.
