Emporia Fire investigators continue their work to determine exactly how and where a destructive house fire developed early Thursday morning.
The fire at 909 Thompson was reported shortly before 3 am. The home, fully engulfed in flames when firefighters and law enforcement arrived a few minutes later, was later deemed structurally unstable after the roof and second floor collapsed. The exterior walls remain upright.
Nobody was home at the time.
The Red Cross is assisting.
