A crash north of Emporia sent one person to a hospital and another to jail Friday evening.
The crash was reported at the junction of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 220, four miles north of Emporia’s northernmost city limits, at around 6:30 pm.
Lyon County Deputy Robert Miller says a pickup driven by 28-year-old Dalton Wilson of Emporia was westbound on Road 220. According to Miller, Wilson began going through the intersection and hit a southbound pickup driven by 21-year-old Domanic McCoy, also of Emporia.
Emporia/Lyon County EMS extricated McCoy from his truck and took him to Newman Regional Health for suspected non-life-threatening injuries. Wilson, meanwhile, was treated at the scene and released from medical care — but was arrested and cited for suspicion of driving under the influence and failing to stop at a stop sign.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Lyon County deputies are investigating. A review of possible formal charges will take place through the Lyon County Attorney’s Office once the investigation is complete.
