The Scouting America Jayhawk Area Council will have its annual fundraising campaign kickoff in Emporia next month.
The Friends of Scouting kickoff will be a community breakfast held at the Bowyer Community Building from 6:45-8 am March 12. Emporia City Manager Trey Cocking, an Eagle Scout alum, will be the keynote speaker.
Proceeds will raise funds for local Scouting America programs areawide. The Jayhawk Area Council operates summer camp, weekend activities and merit badge days throughout the year. It also operates a 340-acre camping area near Lake Perry.
