The latest round of severe thunderstorm activity has produced one confirmed tornado northeast of Emporia.
A severe thunderstorm with at least two areas of rotation passed over Emporia between 4:30 and 5 pm. The storm did not produce any tornadic activity in Lyon County, but the National Weather Service says Osage County deputies reported tornado debris near the intersection of Kansas Highway 170 and 285th Road near Osage City shortly after 5 pm. Reports on damage severity are pending. No injuries have been reported.
Small hail was associated with the storms as they developed south of Emporia and pushed to the northeast. Heavy rainfall was also listed:
*KVOE studios: 1 inch
*Allen: 2.2 inches
*Osage City: 4.25 inches
*Reading: 2.25 inches
With heavy rain and close to 20 inches of rain in parts of Lyon County this month, flash flood warnings have been issued:
*Lyon County: Until 9:15 pm
*Northwest Osage, southeast Wabaunsee counties: until 9:30 pm
*Osage County: Until 9:45 pm
Additional severe weather is possible Tuesday night. Tornado watches continue for the KVOE listening area until 10 pm.
