Memorial service announced for local veteran Norm Fields Featured

Funeral arrangements have been announced for local veteran Norm Fields, who passed away last week at the age of 73.

A memorial service has been slated for 1 pm Friday at the American Legion, 2921 West 12th.

Born in 1946 in Adrian, Michigan, Fields served in the Marines during the Vietnam War. After the war, Fields served as local commander of the American Legion Color Guard and as commander of the American Legion Riders. Fields was a member of the Ball-McColm Post No. 5 of the American Legion and an honorary member of the Lowry Funston Post No. 1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also involved in the Patriot Guard, All Veterans Memorial Committee and Newman Regional Health Auxiliary.

Fields is survived by his wife, Rosaetta, who has spearheaded the Quilts of Gratitude program. He is also survived by three sons, a sister, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Donations can be made out to the American Legion Ball-McColm Post No. 5 or the All Veterans Memorial in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
