A Topeka woman was hurt in Thursday's crash on Americus Road near Bushong.

The crash happened at the intersection of Roads 310 and F. Deputy Nolan Kehres says an eastbound U-Haul box truck driven by 27-year-old Linda Vasquez of Topeka could not stop at the junction due to slick conditions and hit a southbound pickup driven by 32-year-old Keith Wyatt of Council Grove.

Vasquez went to Newman Regional Health for treatment. The extent of her injuries is unclear. Wyatt and his 2-year-old son declined treatment at the scene.

12 pm Thursday: Slick conditions lead to two vehicle collision on Americus Road Thursday morning

One person was transported to Newman Regional Health following a two-vehicle injury accident on Americus Road Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Road F and 310, 3 miles south of Bushong, shortly after 11 am. According to Lyon County Deputy Nolan Kehres, an eastbound U-Haul truck was traveling on Road 310 and was unable to stop at the intersection due to slick road conditions.

This caused the Uhaul to collide with a southbound pickup truck traveling on Americus Road. The driver of the U-Haul was taken to Newman Regional Health with undisclosed injuries.

Two passengers were in the pickup and did not require a visit to the hospital. Names have not been released.

Further details are currently pending.
