A special ceremony will light up the campus of Presbyterian Manor through the holiday season.

Residents are invited to assist in this endeavor by purchasing luminarias that will be officially lit up during a dedication ceremony Saturday evening. The luminaria ceremony is an important one for the staff and residents of Presbyterian Manor each year and even more so this year according to Marketing Director Crystal Stock.

In a news release to KVOE News, Stock says, "it helps maintain little pieces of normalcy and celebrate the loved ones in our lives." Visitations have not been allowed at the nursing home since the middle of last month due to the sudden and overwhelming spike in COVID-19 cases.

Because of this, residents will likely not get to spend the holidays with their loved ones.

Stock says not only does this bring back some normalcy, it also helps residents to memorialize and honor their loved ones each year.

Like many events, this year's ceremony will take place virtually beginning at 5:30 pm on Presbyterian Manor's Facebook page. Residents can still purchase Luminarias to be lit during the event at a cost of $25 with all proceeds going to benefit Presbyterian Manor's Good Samaritan Program.

To purchase a luminaria, or for more information, contact Crystal Stock by calling 620-343-2613.
