Restaurant owners across the area are encouraged to apply for federal COVID-19 relief funds beginning Monday.

The fund, established under the American Rescue Plan, has nearly $29 billion in direct relief funds to restaurants and other food establishments that have been hammered by the pandemic. Restaurants can access funds equal to their pandemic-related revenue losses, up to $10 million a business and no more than $5 million per physical location. Funds must be used by March 11, 2023.

The application window for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund begins at 11 am. Applications will be accepted online at www.sba.gov/restaurants until the revenue stream runs dry. Applications through May 24 will be prioritized for businesses owned by women, veterans and socially or economically disadvantaged people. The process then goes to a first-come, first-served basis after that.
