Aside from a few pieces of equipment to move in, Flint Hills Technical College has completed a major renovation project.

The college has been working on the Inspiring Wranglers project to renovate and expand the Hospitality and Culinary Arts departments, whether through fundraising or actual construction. On Tuesday, the college announced Phase 2 -- the final phase -- of construction was finished. Phase 2 work included an expansion of the main kitchen and a reconfiguration of the footprint involving the building's southwest corner, allowing for enough space to build a dedicated baking kitchen and a culinary kitchen.

This followed the initial phase, which included a chemistry lab, upgraded Student Commons, a Senior Teaching kitchen and a demonstration kitchen.

Vice President for Advancement Mike Crouch says the program's buzz has only grown over the last few years -- and the renovated facility will only help.

Upgrades will continue the momentum of the program, which has become one of the college's signature components. The campaign was designed to ensure accreditation through the American Culinary Federation, thus letting students attain chef status after graduation.
