Bearcats bury Hornets with 3s Featured

Northwest Missouri State made a season-high 19 threes on the way to a 92-71 win over the Emporia State Hornets Saturday.

It was a close 1st half with the two teams trading the lead 5 times and there were 3 ties. Northwest would go on a 15-2 run to start the second half and Emporia State would never catch up. 

Coach Craig Doty found some encouragement in the game. 

The Bearcats were 19-33 from the 3 point line and shot 61 percent from the floor in the game. 

 The Hornets were 6-19 from behind the arc. 

Austin Downing was the leading scorer for the Hornets with 17 points. Jumah'Ri Turner added 13 points.

Northwest was led by Trevor Hudgins with 26 points, he was 8-10 from the 3 point line. Diego Bernard added 19 points with 5 made 3s and Ryan Hawkins finished with 17 points.

The Hornets fall to 5-4 on the season. They return to action Thursday when they host Pittsburg State.
