Emporia High basketball teams split with Topeka West Featured

The Emporia High girls basketball team picked up their 5th win of the season outscoring Topeka West 71-32 Tuesday night.

The Lady Spartans jumped out to an 18-4 lead after the 1st quarter and rolled from there.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey was pleased with the way they finished the game.

Gracie Gilpin led the offense with 20 points. Rebecca Snyder added a career-high 19 points. 10 players scored for the Lady Spartans in the win as they improve to 5-2.

In the boys game, Topeka West outscored Emporia High 76-50 snapping the Spartans 3 game winning streak.
West outscored the Spartans 16-6 in the 3rd quarter to take control of the game.
Coach Beau Welch said it was going to take full 32 minutes of solid play to win.

Emporia High was led by Charles Snyders 21 points. Parker Leeds added 13 points. The Spartans are now 3-3.

Emporia High is scheduled to host Topeka Hayden Friday night.
