
The women are the 4th seed and will host Central Oklahoma Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 6 pm.
The Emporia State men are the 8th seed and will play at Northwest Missouri State Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 5:30p.
The Hornets finished in a 3-way tie for 7th, 8th and 9th place with Rogers State and Fort Hays State. Their win over Fort Hays gave them the number 8 seed.
The Emporia State basketball teams did not close out the regular season the way they wanted to at Washburn.
The Lady Hornets were outscored by Washburn 74-64.
Washburn took the lead for good in the 2nd quarter outscoring Emporia State 15-8. Washburns biggest lead was by 22 points in the 3rd quarter. Emporia State tried to rally in the 4th quarter but could never retake the lead.
Coach Toby Wynn called the loss disappointing.
Tre'Zure Jobe scored a game-high 23 points for Emporia State. Fredricka Sheats finished with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Ehlaina Hartman finished with 12 points.
The Lady Hornets will take a 17-5 record into the MIAA tournament.
Washburn won the mens game 73-70 as they rallied from a 15 point first-half deficit for the win.
Emporia State led for over 30 minutes of the game. Washburn took the lead for good with just 2 minutes to play. Coach Craig Doty said they need to be better in several areas.
Jumah'Ri Turner led Emporia State with 24 points. Austin Downing added 18 points and Gage McGuire finished with 17 points. The Emporia State men take an 11 and 11 record into the MIAA tournament.
