Emporia State University is adding a scholarship and subtracting a traditional requirement.
In many cases, scholarships have a minimum ACT test score. A new scholarship announced Thursday by ESU is based only on high school grade point average, with an increasing benefit to students with higher GPAs. Students can get at least $850 and as much as $1,950, depending on their GPAs.
ESU is making other changes to admission requirements. In a long-term change, students with at least a 2.25 GPA or a 21 ACT are eligible for admission. For the short term, ESU is waiving application fees for undergraduate students through May 1. Students who complete applications by May 1 are also eligible to win one of five $1,000 scholarships, regardless of academic performance.
