I nominated Alivia because I wanted to recognize her for her exceptional effort and dedication. She consistently goes above and beyond in every task, demonstrating not only a strong work ethic but also a genuine passion for learning. Whether it’s tackling challenging assignments or collaborating with peers, Alivia approaches each task with enthusiasm and determination. Her ability to think critically and creatively sets her apart, making a significant impact in our classroom.

Clubs : TRIO, Junior Student Board, Spartan Club, Female Empowerment Club, Be The Change, EHS (SALT) Student Leadership Team, National Honors Society, Common Ground, Circle of Friends, and Educators Rising. Extracurriculars – She plays and coaches softball, is a part of Venue 12 (youth group), and plays piano for the youth worship team.

At 12th Avenue Baptist, Alivia helps with children’s ministry, is a part of the welcome committee, and volunteers in the coffee room. She also looks for many opportunities to help in the community, whether it be helping childcare for PTO or helping teachers with classrooms (cleaning at the end of the year). Alivia has also volunteered with EHS blood drives, school events, and set up/clean up for school dances. When asked what her favorite service has been, she answered, “Missions, because of the opportunities to travel to Mexico and do missions work in different communities there.” She has been four times and plans on going again next summer.

Alivia is a natural-born leader. She has the natural ability to inspire and motivate others, always stepping up to take charge during group projects and class activities. What truly sets Alivia apart, though, is her unwavering kindness. She fosters an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and heard, always ready to lend a helping hand or encouraging word. This blend of leadership and compassion not only enhances our classroom community but also makes a lasting positive impact on those around her.

Makenna works so hard as a nursing student at FHTC. She is constantly putting in effort to be the best in her field. However, Makenna also works at the Granada Coffee Co and works hard in helping her elderly grandma get from the grocery store to doctors appointments. Makenna is also a referee on weeknights and some weekends for KSHSA with Junior High volleyball. Makenna is also a great friend and everyone needs someone like her. She is able to bring a smile to a face or a laugh to escape within seconds of being around her.

Yes, the FHTC nursing program sponsors many volunteering efforts that she is apart of.

Makenna has all of the above listed traits. Her leadership envokes those below her to understand the tasks at hand. She is the kindest person ever and only wants the best for those around her. She is responsible in many ways such as being on time to school and work, helping her grandmother and being a ref. She is very honest and trusts that others are too.

Brayden is a very kind and respectful person. He is such a hard worker, puts in more than 100% into anything he does, gets along with everyone, is a positive role model, and is just an overall great kiddo!

At Emporia High School, he is in boys cross country, swim, and baseball, as well as Student Council, and probably others that I am not aware of. Outside of school, he is an active member at his church where he willingly serves to help out there, and active in his youth group as well.

Brayden has done community service/volunteered for everything that he has been actively involved in–church, youth group, baseball, cross country, and swim. A couple of examples through church/youth group, he has done some missionary work to help others less fortunate multiple times, serves as an usher, helps with offering, lighting candles, Vacation Bible School, and anything else that he is able to help with.

He always comes to class with a positive attitude, is kind to all others, very responsible, demonstrates integrity, is very knowledgeable, an active listener, shows passion and is grateful for everything he is given in life, takes up opportunities when he can, uses sound judgment, has a win-win focus, is a leader, a hard worker, has a willingness attitude, strives to do his best everyday, involved in his school, church, and community, and is such a respectful person!

He worked the Albert Taylor Hall theatre just to get his hands on some more work in the theatre. I believe he worked the light or sound board. Last year, he played Tommy in Annie Get Your Gun for WEACT’s Emporia’s community theatre

He kind, patient, empathetic, and one of the most understanding people I know. He pushes himself to work hard and turn things in on time. He makes sure to get feedback. He communicates effectively with his peers, professors, and coworkers. He gives great advice to his friends who ask for it, and teaches them kindness, patience, and respect for others. He teaches theatre in PANTS and provides creative outlets for other students by giving them ideas and a space to create theatre. He cares so much about school because he knows the people are what makes things great. He has amazing grades and manages to juggle this crazy schedule of being a full-time student, a leader of a club, in jazz band, in trumpet lessons, he works at ESU in the scene shop (they build the sets for all the shows performed at ESU), and is managing a restaurant! I’m just amazed at what he can do, and with an infectious attitude.

Josie is working on her 2nd degree in her 5th year. Her first degree is Health and Human Performance and now is getting a nursing degree. She has maintained a 4.0 gpa.

ESU Softball

She has been one of the top volunteers over the years including during Covid she spent her free time making dog toys to donate to the pet shelter. She also works at a nursing home in her home town when she’s not busy with school and sports. She will take extra time after her scheduled work day to paint some ladies nails or play a card game if she feels someone needs more attention.

I am always in awe to see Josie studying with friends with how she leads and helps everyone do better.

As I worked alongside Aubri, I was very impressed with her work ethic working on her masters degree while also in Phase 2 of her program. Her love and compassion for students is evident, especially with the special education students. She will make a wonderful teacher. Her attention to detail will make her very successful in the teaching realm.

Aubri belongs to the Special Athletics Track and Field Committee at Emporia State University. While Aubri is also student teaching, she is actively enrolled in the Special Education Masters Program.

Aubri has given over 1500 hours assisting students with exceptionalities through the Special Athletics Track and Field Day hosted at Emporia State University (2021-2024).l, assisting in the classroom as a peer tutor and teacher aid at Wamego Elementary Schools and at the High School, while also being a mentor for students in athletic practices and game days (2016-2020). 300 hours leading the youth in basketball camps, tennis camps, and providing the community with 1 on 1 or group workouts hosted by herself. (2018-2020)

Aubri is compassionate and has the ability to find the best in each student she works with. I observed that it was important to her to meet all requirements in her student teaching role. It was clear to me that she had patience with challenging students and was able to redirect them in a positive way.

She catches on to everything so quickly and her designs are very detailed and show the amount of time and effort put in. She makes sure all of her assignments are submitted perfectly!

Ana is a great leader and helps classmates if they are in need. She is very responsible, always on time, and has a high degree of integrity. It has been fun having her in Graphic Arts Technology.

Emma is a well rounded young woman. She has demonstrated exceptional work thus far in her time at ESU. Recently she did an amazing job leading the service-learning project. As a committee leader she took on tasks and completed them professionally. She is a consistent and reliable and these are qualities that deserve recognition. I look forward to watching her develop as a future Health and Physical Education teacher.

(from Maggie) – Christian consistently goes above & beyond with his academics, willingness to help others and perform leadership duties. In practice, he’s constantly looking ahead to see where he can assist, what he might need to know, and what might need problem-solving. Aside from being a full-time student and class Treasurer, he helps his family run a daycare and works at the local Emergency Department. His hard work and dedication have placed him in the 99th percentile nationwide per ATI Testing during 1st quarter, and I fully believe this will continue throughout his education and career. His brilliance and drive show in everything he does.
(from Judy) – Christian started the Practical Nursing program in August 2023. He displays high standards in class and is a role model for other students. Christian completes his assignments exceptionally well and assists other students with learning.

(from Judy) – Christian works part-time as a Certified Nurse Aide in the emergency department of a local hospital. Christian volunteered at the Flint Hills Senior Life Fair.

(from Maggie) – Christian has attended many of our Community Volunteer Events, including today at the Senior Life Fair where Christian volunteered to stay an extra hour to help tear down the stage and clean up.

(from Maggie) – Christian is kind, intelligent, respectful, studious, punctual, observant, helpful, professional, and humble! These are just a few of his traits!
(from Judy) – Christian is a quiet person who listens well. Christian shares his ED experiences with fellow students to further the lesson topic. Christian’s hands-on skills are very accurate and an example for other students.

Students Name – Auralee Pritchard

Auralee has learned to balance her academic workload with her desire to volunteer and assist others who need help. Auralee belongs to a number of campus clubs including Green Club where she is the club secretary. This environmental club helps clean areas on campus and helps with clean-up for SOS. She is also the club secretary for NAFME which is the music educators club. Auralee spent part of her spring break volunteering with Sea Turtle, Inc. which prepared nesting areas for sea turtles. Auralee volunteered last week to give an art class to staff members of ESU and spent a lot of time making sure things went smoothly. Auralee is always happy to help fellow classmates if they need help understanding class assignments. Auralee is enjoying all aspects of her college life experience and is a positive role model for others.

Auralee belongs to Green Club, NAFME (music educators), Wildlife and Fisheries Club, and attends a bible study with fellow college students regularly and is an active member of her church.

Auralee has volunteered with one of the clubs to do periodic landscape work for SOS. As she has time, she helps with the food kitchen.

Auralee consistently displays a positive attitude. She respects her teachers and fellow students. Auralee has helped several students who had questions about assignments or needed help. Auralee is always willing to go the extra mile whenever it’s needed.

Students Name – Courtney Thompson
School Attending – Sophomore @ FHTC

Courtney not only works hard to complete her assignments thoroughly and on time, but she also helps the other students in the class as needed. Courtney has begun her observation time in an early childhood setting and enjoys it very much. Courtney is open to learning new ways to do things and has volunteered to be the Early Childhood Education representative on the FHTC Student Council

Courtney is not only a full-time Early Childhood Education student, but she also works an average of 40 hours per week as a CNA/CMA at Sunflower Care Homes.

She is the ECE representative on the FHTC student council and has volunteered her time at a local church breakfast. The funds from this breakfast go to help local causes such as food banks, yardwork for the elderly, and donations towards the needy.

Courtney is concerned not only for her grades but also for the grades of others. She shows kindness and understanding to the children she spends time with during her observations and on her own free time. Courtney is willing to do as she is asked and often volunteers when she sees a need.
