Emporia State University held a “chain-cutting” ceremony to mark the official opening of its new disc golf course Sunday.
The Hornet Hills course in Wilson Park is the direct result of a partnership between Dynamic Discs and ESU. Dynamic Discs owner Jeremy Rusco, an ESU alum, says students have a convenient course nearby.
Emporia State Senior Vice President Jim Williams calls the course “a phenomenal addition” to the campus.
The creation of the course gives students and the general public another course to enjoy. It also puts more emphasis on the university’s budding disc golf club, which has a dozen members at this time. Sponsor Andrew McHenry says
Dynamic Discs supplied baskets and tee pads for the 9-hole course. The Emporia-based company also designed the course layout.
