Lyon County Public Health has released its latest updates to isolation and quarantine guidance.
The updated guidance released Thursday relates to health care workers in a hospital setting and the general public. According to Public Health Information Officer Justin Ogleby, the updated guidance comes as Public Health is striving to keep its policies as in line with guidance from both the state and federal levels as possible.
Per the new guidance, healthcare workers in a hospital setting who have a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection should isolate for 10 days or 7 days with a negative test, if they are asymptomatic or showing signs of mild symptoms. Health care contingency or crisis workers with COVID-19 who are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic will be allowed to return to work only with COVID-19 positive patients during the remainder of the 10-day infectious period.
Health care workers who are considered a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 patient who are boosted and asymptomatic will have no work restrictions so long as they have negative tests on days 2 and 5-7. Health care workers deemed a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 patient that are unvaccinated and asymptomatic will need to quarantine for 10 days or seven days with a negative test.
As for the general public, which does not include people who work in a health care setting or another congregate setting, Public Health says individuals need to stay home for five days if they a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection regardless of vaccination status. If individuals show now symptoms after five days they can leave their home, however, they are told to continue wearing a mask for an additional five days.
