A lengthy detour for heavy trucks going through Greenwood County is over a bit earlier than expected.
The city of Hamilton started a sewer line repair project along Kansas Highway 99 in the city limits early this month. The original plan was to be finished by May 18, but the city says work concluded Thursday.
The resulting detour sent heavy truck traffic from K-99 east to US Highway 75, whether at K-58 near Madison on the north side or US-54 near Eureka on the south side. The detour added over 60 miles to the trip if heavy trucks had to go completely around the work zone. Local traffic and emergency vehicles could use Hamilton’s city streets to get around the work project.
