Warriors For Hope is set to start its fundraising campaign next week.
The campaign is in its second year and raises money for suicide awareness. The campaign comes at the perfect time with September being National Suicide Prevention Month.
Beacon For Hope Executive Director Melissa Owen says expanding the campaign outside Emporia is an emphasis this year.
Funds from this year’s campaign will go to a youth program Beacon for Hope simply called “Hope.” Beacon will take The program will go to high schools in the Emporia area and around Kansas.
Owen says the idea is to have peer leadership organize different events to help spread suicide awareness within their school so students know they are not alone.
One of this year’s participants, Keri Paul, has known Owen for several years. Paul says she wants to get the message out and make her impact in the community.
