I recently read a TIME article entitled How Time ranked the World’s Best Companies. Here is how it started.
BIG TECH HAD A TOUGH YRAR, LAYING OFF TENS OF THOUSANDS of workers since January. But the biggest tech companies are also the ones doing best for investors, employees, and the planet. Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet (the company that owns Google) and Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) were the top four companies by TIME with help from a data platform called Statista.
It was an interesting read, especially looking for local companies listed.
Here are few I recognize: Pfizer was sixth followed by American Express as the leading financial company. BMW was the first auto company with Volkswagon and GM listed along with Ford in the top 20.
Dell was the next IT company with Delta the only airline listed in the Top 20. I wonder about Southwest.
Starbucks was 14th with Johnson and Johnson 20th
Why was Microsft first?
They earned $72 billion in the most recent fiscal year a 63% increase.
They reduced overall emissions by half a percent.
Reported both ethnic minority and women employees in the U.S. earned more on average than their male counterparts.
Impressive I guess,
Personally, I’m more interested in our local companies that I hear about on KVOE. Emporia area companies are amazing at succeeding, treating our planet well, and their employees too. And we don’t need a statistical study to verify the facts.
Emporia has lots of great businesses waiting to serve you. SHOP EMPORIA FIRST should not be just a jingle. It should be all our practice.
