An investigation has been ongoing into a suspected human trafficking case following an arrest in Coffey County late last month.
Leslie Cadena, age 24 of unlisted hometown, was arrested early Jan. 30 on suspicion of human trafficking, benefit financially in forced labor or involuntary servitude. She was also arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, possession or use of drug paraphernalia and traffic offenses.
Further details have not been released, although bond is currently listed at $100,000.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is currently investigating. Because the investigation is active, Capt. Candice Breshears tells KVOE News nothing is being divulged now because releasing information could hamper the investigation. The Coffey County Attorney’s Office is withholding a decision on formal charges until the Highway Patrol completes its investigation.
