Emporia State University will have its annual Women’s History Month Reception and Awards Ceremony on Friday.
The Ruth Schillinger Award, named after Emporia State’s first Affirmative Action officer and former Dean of Women Ruth Schillinger, will go to Dr Dawn McConkie, a professor of music and Interim Assistant Dean for the School of Visual and Performing Arts.
The Mary Headrick Award, named after former counselor Mary Headrick, will go to Trox Gallery and Gifts owner, Emporia First Friday Art Walk co-founder and SOS board member Kaila Mock.
Also, the Susan B Anthony Scholarship for a student contributing “significantly to the growth and education of women on the ESU campus” will go to business accounting major Maria Paula Sanchez Aguirre.
The awards ceremony is from 2-3:30 pm Friday at the Memorial Union Sherrer Room.
