Emporia and Olpe fire fighters responded to a grass fire near the Emporia Municipal Airport Sunday afternoon.
Crews were called to the 1200 block of Road K just after 4 pm after a controlled burn became out of control according to the Emporia Fire Department. Crews quickly got the fire under control but not before it managed to scorch half an acre of grass.
The fire did not encroach on any structures in the area and no injuries were reported.
