Over the coming weeks and months, you’ll notice a gradual change in the look for Emporia Police vehicles.
The Police Department worked with IM Design principal Shawn Honea on the new design, which is on one truck now and coming soon to the remaining 12 vehicles in the fleet. Police Chief Ed Owens says it’s a dramatically different look that will help with visibility.
The new design features a stylized digital font and the Emporia Police shield on a black background.
Owens was also pleased Emporia Police could partner with a local business, and he says IM Design saved the department a significant amount of money when compared to other potential vendors.
The current design was made public in summer 2014. Owens says a redesign had been under discussion for at least two years as the city developed a vehicle rental agreement with Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Owens also says the remaining vehicles will get the new design over the next several weeks and months, although the process is being extended due to supply chain issues not related to the new paint scheme.
