Students involved in the USD 251 Honor Flight say they were glad they went. They also say veterans and fellow students should be part of upcoming trips to Washington, DC.
Northern Heights student Elizabeth Galloway called it a trip of a lifetime — even for some of her fellow students who have been more than once.
Student Preston Payton agrees.
Students and veterans had a chance to see different memorials, the US Capitol and Arlington National Cemetery among a long list of tour stops.
This is the third Honor Flight for North Lyon County, with other trips last year and in 2019. Coordinator Shawn Wilson says the district has partnered with a number of other districts in eastern Kansas — Central Heights, Flint Hills, Lyndon, Osawatomie and Prairie View — for the last two trips. Plans for a trip next academic year are pending.
