The Salvation Army of Emporia’s pantry shelves are starting to get bare and there’s an opportunity where community members can help fill it back up.
Stamp Out Hunger by the National Letter Carriers Association is set for Saturday. Salvation Army Capt. Mylie Hadden says the drive comes at an important time of the year.
Community members should have received a blue bag in the mail recently. To donate, put your donations in the blue bag or any bag if you didn’t receive one and set it by your mailbox or drop it off at the Salvation Army Office.
Hadden says it will take about anything ranging from anything that makes complete family meals, to baking goods and condiments. There are some items Hadden says the pantry does not need, like canned corn, beans, or Raman.
Volunteers are still needed for the event. If you want to volunteer, show up at the Salvation Army office at 327 Constitution.
