Three Emporians were arrested in Morris County after an alleged chase outside Council Grove shortly before midnight Saturday night.
Morris County Sheriff Jay Simecka says deputies tried to stop a suspicious pickup at the intersection of Lake and Dam Roads, but the driver failed to stop — starting a roughly 15-minute chase that ended near South 200 Road and X Avenue, between Council Grove and Bushong. Deputies reported finding illegal drugs in the truck after it was stopped.
Simecka says 30-year-old Brett Oekle was arrested on suspicion of flee and elude; possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia; reckless driving and other traffic counts; and a felony parole violation from the state. 51-year-old Robert Metcalf and 33-year-old Geraldine Lucero were arrested on suspicion of possession of meth, marijuana and paraphernalia possession. Metcalf was also arrested on suspicion of a Lyon County felony warrant.
Formal charges against all three suspects are currently pending. Council Grove Police helped Morris County deputies with this case.
