More infrastructure and maintenance matters are ahead for USD 253 Emporia school board members when they meet Wednesday.
Board members will discuss air quality at Emporia High, especially related to potential mold, before discussing a better than $450,000 replacement of the school’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Door replacements across the district, carpet replacements for Emporia High and Emporia Middle School corridors, nearly $600,000 in technology purchases for summer replacement and an over $320,000 repaving of the Middle School back loop will be handled separately.
As other area school districts have done recently, the board will return some conversation to open enrollment. Board members will approve class size capacity so the district can gauge the number of open seats available to non-resident transfers.
One executive session is scheduled for negotiations.
The meeting starts at 6 pm Wednesday at Mary Herbert Education Center.
