As coronavirus caseloads and vaccine demand stays low, Lyon County Public Health is phasing in a more normal work flow.
Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern says COVID-19 response and more traditional duties have been separated since the pandemic started almost 15 months ago. That’s finally changing.
Millbern also says that’s also evident with the new approach to vaccinations, shifting away from mass public events to what can be considered routine clinic visits. Millbern says this is important for the public to see. She also says it has been important for Public Health staffers, who have had an increase in mental wellness over the past several months.
Under normal circumstances, Public Health is responsible for environmental health matters, including evaluations and permits for sewage treatment systems, water screenings, school inspections and environmental health hazard investigations.
Millbern will be back on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am Thursday for an update.
