Emporia’s American Legion Post 5 will be the host site for a special fundraiser Saturday.
The Poker Run and Legacy Run will launch at 10:30 am, with stops in Williamsburg, Scranton, Harveyville and Americus before the last bikes and cars come back to the Legion by 4:30 pm. There will be a fundraising biscuits and gravy breakfast starting at 9 am. In addition, there will be a “burger burn” at 4 pm with awards and prize drawings starting at 4:30 pm.
Over 40 American Legion Riders from across Kansas will also be in town to raise money and awareness for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship, a needs-based scholarship for children of US military service personnel who either died on active duty or received a disability rating of at least 50 percent as assigned by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Proceeds from the Poker Run and Legacy Run also support the scholarship.
Cost is $20 a rider, with optional passenger hands at $15 and additional hands at $5 each.
