Railroad improvements have been taking place in the Emporia city limits the past two months. Improvements will slide west of Emporia to close out November.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe has announced plans to close the crossing at Lyon County Road A, or the Lyon-Chase county line, on Nov. 30. Repairs are planned between 7 am and 5 pm that day.
The Lyon County Highway Department has been asked to set up traffic control as BNSF repairs the crossing.
This follows repairs at Emporia’s Commercial Street crossing last week and repairs to the railroad bridge above the Mechanic Street underpass from late September into early November.
