Nobody was hurt when a train engine caught fire near Emporia on Thursday.
The fire developed before the train stopped near the Road P crossing. Emporia Fire says the fire was limited to the lead engine, with smoke and fire coming from the exhaust when firefighters and Lyon County deputies arrived shortly after 9:30 am.
Once the fire was put out, the train was cleared to continue on its way.

Emporia Fire and Lyon County deputies are dealing with an unusual fire Thursday morning.
A train fire was reported near the intersection of Roads 160 and P, less than two miles east of Emporia, shortly after 9:30 am. Early indications are the train was hauling grain and stopped near the intersection.
No injuries have been reported.
