Emporia Fire responded to a vehicle fire northeast of Emporia on Thursday afternoon.
Crews responded to Kansas Turnpike mile marker 140, about 13 miles northeast of the Emporia exit and seven miles southwest of the Admire gate. Fire Capt. Willie Ward says a passenger car was fully involved in flames and was destroyed. All occupants got out safely.
Ward says the fire was contained to the car and did not spread to any nearby grass despite windy conditions at the time of the emergency call.
