The Emporia State women survived a late scare at Northwest Missouri State Saturday night, winning their first MIAA game 68-64. Northwest Missouri State rolled to a 89-68 win over the Emporia State men.
The Emporia High wrestling team finished in 2nd place at the Valley Center tournament Saturday.

Junior Askia Booker hit a 30-foot buzzer beater to give unranked Colorado a 75-72 victory over #6 Kansas on Saturday.
Cleanthony Early scored 16 points for Wichita State Saturday, which surged in the second half to get past Oral Roberts 71-58. The Shockers erased an eight-point halftime deficit with a 17-4 run after the break.
More post season honors for 6 Emporia High football players. Parker Bass has been named 1st team 5A and 2nd team all state by both the Topeka Capital Journal and Wichita Eagle.
A mixed night for the Emporia High basketball teams in their season openers Friday night. The Lady Spartans held on for a 47-45 win over Lawrence. The Spartans were out scored by Maize 56-43.
