Four Lyndon players scored in double figures Monday as the Tigers advanced to the semifinals of the Herington substate bracket with a 68-41 win over Chase County.
Emporia Highs wrestling team finished in 6th place at the 5-A State championships. The Spartans came home with a 2nd place finish, two 4th place finishes and two 6th place finishes.
The season is over for the Emporia State mens basketball team. The Hornets need Fort Hays State to defeat Northeastern State Saturday to advance to the MIAA tournament. Northeastern State rallied for a 79-77 win over Fort Hays State to take the final spot in the MIAA tournament. The Emporia State women play their first MIAA tournament game Friday in Kansas City at 6pm against either Lincoln or Missouri Western.

On day two of the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Emporia States Samuel Saidi won the mens high jump with a leap of 6 feet 11 and half inches. Payson Maydew finished in 2nd place in the heptathlon, setting a new school record with a score of 5,363 points. That automatically qualifies him for the indoor nationals.
The Emporia High girls basketball team will be at home and the boys will be on the road for the first round of Sub-State play. The Lady Spartans will host Valley Center Wednesday night. The winner advances to face either Salina Central or Salina South for a trip to State on Friday.
