3 student athletes were honored by being named the 2016 Emporia State Student-Athletes of the year at the Emporia State Honors banquet and Senior Recognition Wednesday night. Kelly Moten and Kathryn Flott are the Co-Female Student -Athletes of the year. Brent Wilson is the Male Student-Athlete of the year.

Emporia State baseball remains 10th in regional ranking

The Emporia State baseball team remains 10th in this weeks regional rankings. St. Cloud State is ranked number 1 followed by Minnesota Duluth, Central Missouri, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Augustana, Minnesota State, Arkansas Montecello, Washburn is 8th and Missouri Western 9th. Emporia State begins at 3 game series with Southwest Baptist Thursday with first pitch at 5pm. The game will be broadcast on MIX 104.9FM and on-line at kvoe.com on MIX1049tv.

7 Emporia State tennis players named All MIAA

7 Emporia State tennis players have been named to the All-MIAA team. From the mens team Farhan Sadique is a second team selection at number 6 singles. Sadique and Collin Connor and the doubles team of Patrick Cameron and Matheus Mota are honorable mentions. From the womens team Tawni Griffey at 1 singles, Lori Ahuja and Sarah Durham at 6 singles are honorable mentions. Tawni Griffey also received the Sportsmanship award.

Royals rally for win over Nationals

Lorenzo Cains single with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th scored the winning run as the Kansas City Royals rallied for a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals Tuesday night.

Emporia High girls swim and dive team 3rd at Topeka High

The Emporia High girls swim and dive team finished in 3rd place at the 12 team Topeka High Invitational Tuesday. The Lady Spartans had two first place finishes:Brooklynn Guion in the 50 free and the 400 free relay team of Brooklyn Guion, Jordan Metz, Jaden Silva and Landrie Whitson. 

Emporia High girls soccer team shutout by Washburn Rural

Washburn Rural shutout the Emporia High girls soccer team 7-0 Tuesday night. The Lady Spartan Soccer team is scheduled to host Wichita East Friday.
