Emporia Highs Gentry Scheve 3rd at State Golf tournament

The State boys golf tournaments are being played today. Emporia High played in the 5A tournament in Salina. Freshman Gentry Scheve finished in a 5 way tie for 3rd place with a 73 and finished in 3rd place after the play-off.

Lindenwood wins Central Regional Baseball Championship

Lindenwood will be making their first ever NCAA Division II baseball World Series appearence after winning the Central Regional Tournament. The Lions defeated Central Oklahoma 8-4 in the Championship game Monday. Lindenwood scored 4 runs in the first inning and led 8-0 before Central Oklahoma tried to rally with a run in the 8th and 3 runs in the 9th inning.
 
Emporia State 2nd baseman Ryan McBroom was named to the All Central Region team.

Royals split doubleheader with Twins

The Kansas City Royals split a doubleheader with the Minnesota Twins Sunday. The Royals won the first game 6-4 and the Twins won the 2nd game 8-4.

NCAA Central Regional Baseball tournament down to Championship game

It will be Lindenwood vs Central Oklahoma in the NCAA Central Regional Baseball tournament Championship game Monday. In Sundays games Lindenwood out scored St. Cloud 10-8 to remain unbeaten in the tournament. Central Oklahoma defeated Minnesota State 3-2 and eliminated St. Cloud State 14-8. The Championship game is scheduled to start at 11am at Glennen Field at the Trusler Sports Complex. An if necessary game would be played following the first game. The winner advances to the NCAA DII World Series to be played in Grand Prairie, Texas beginning May 27th.

State High School Boys Golf Championships to be played Monday

The State boys golf tournaments will be played Monday. Emporia High along with 4 area schools and players from 2 other schools will be playing.

In a season that featured 22 come from behind wins and 6 walk off victories the Emporia State baseball season came to and end when Central Oklahoma scored a run in the bottom of the 9th to defeat the Hornets 6-5.

2017 KVOE Athletes and Coaches of the year

The 2017 KVOE Athletes and Coaches of the year were announced Saturday. The Emporia High Athletes are Kelsey Gordon and Damon Good. The Emporia High Coach of the year is Randy Wells. The Area High School Athletes of the year are Waverlys Payton Meader and Olpes Kyler True. The Area Coach of the Year is Waverly Ty Piper.

Emporia Highs Haylee Weiss repeats as State Diving Champ

Emporia High sophomore Haylee Weiss has repeated as the 5-1A state diving champion. She won the title with a score of 428. Whitney Sparks finished in 5th place and Karalyn Karjala finished 15th. Also for Emporia High at the State 5-1A swim meet Jaden Silva finished in 7th place in the 200 free. The 200 free relay team of Grace Walker, Ashlyn Alingh, Lauren Duncan and Jaden Silva finished in 15th place. As a team Emporia High finished in 16th place. Bishop Miege won the 5-1A State Championship.
