The Emporia High wrestling team advanced 9 wrestlers to the championship quarterfinals of the 5A regional tournament at Valley Center Friday afternoon.
The Spartans won 7 matches and received 2 byes. Nilton Sandoval at 132 and Drew Baker at 182 received the byes. Levi Buckridge at 113, Isaac Williams at 145, Hunter Williams at 152, Anthony Delgado at 160, Whit Hall at 192, Jose Ultreres at 220 and Dalton Leek at 285 all won by fall in the first round. Hunter Williams won his match is 3 seconds which could be a national record.
