The Emporia State baseball team began a 3 game series with Newman Friday with a 7-1 win.
The big inning was a 4 run 6th inning that included a 3 run homerun by Brian Grove. Seth Holman was the winning pitcher going 6 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits and 9 strikeouts. The Hornets are now 4-4 for the season. The two teams will play games 2 and 3 in Emporia on Saturday and Sunday.
