The Emporia State baseball team exploded for 12 runs in the 2nd inning on the way to a 16-4 win over Newman Saturday.
Trevor Turner was 5 for 6 at the plate with 3 RBI. Garrett Francis also drove in 3 runs. Tanner Cairns was the winning pitcher going 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits with 5 strikouts. The Hornets go for the series sweep Sunday afternoon. First pitch at the Trusler Sports Complex is set for noon.
