The State High School wrestling tournaments begin Friday. Emporia High had 9 wrestlers qualify for the 5A State Tournament.
They may be minus one of those wrestlers. Senior Nilton Sandoval who placed 2nd at regionals has been battling an illness and may not be available for state. He was also a state placer last year.
Isaac Williams is making his 4th trip to state.
Hunter Williams is making his 3rd trip to State, he placed 6th last year.
Drew Baker and Anthony Delgado are returning state qualifyers. Levi Buckridge, Whit Hall, Jose Ultreres and Dalton Leek are first time state qualifiers.
11 area wrestlers will competing at 3-2-1A state tournament. Chase County is sending 4 wrestlers, Mission Valley is sending 3. Council Grove, White City, Osage City and Burlingame each will be sending 1 wrestler to state.
Burlington is sending 7 wrestlers to state.
