For the 8th time this season the Emporia State mens basketball team suffered loss in a game that was decided by 5 points or less as Northeastern State out scored the Hornets 68-66 Thursday night.
The Hornets led at halftime by 15 points 41-26. They would go the first 2:13 of the 2nd half without a basketball and would hit another 2 plus minute scoring drought. They would go 7 minutes during the last 8 minutes of play without scoring. Brandon Hall made a layup with 1:08 to play to give the Hornets a 61-60 lead and later tied the game a 66. Jamir Andrews hit the game winner with 3 seconds to play for Northeastern. Emporia State Coach Shaun Vandiver says it comes down to executing.
Brandon Hall led Emporia State with 15 points. Brian Morton added 12 points.
The Hornets need a win Saturday at Central Oklahoma and loses by Northeastern State and Missouri Western to make it into the MIAA Tournament.
