The Emporia State women needed a win to keep their hopes of advancing to Kansas City for the MIAA tournament alive. They held the lead early in the 1st quarter but a 8-0 run by the Northeastern State gave them a lead they would not give up on the way to a 75-67 win over the Lady Hornets.
The Lady Hornets trailed by 14 in the 2nd quarter. They would rally in the 4th quarter cutting the deficit to 2, 54-52, but could never tie the game or take the lead. Coach Jory Collins said they were out played.
Jessica Wayne led the Lady Hornets with 17 points. Marissa Preston added 15 points, Emily Miller finished with 11 points and Tyra Jones scored 10 points.
The Lady Hornets will need to win Saturday and have Nebraska Kearney lose to Southwest Baptist Friday to receive the bye to Kansas City.
