The Burlingame Bearkats held off the Madison Bulldogs, 62-48, to advance to the second round of the 2-A Wabaunsee Sub-State.
Burlingame built a 17-point halftime lead, only to see Madison trim it to 12 points midway through the third quarter. Burlingame led by 15 heading to the fourth and stretched the lead to 22.
Burlingame coach Creighton Winters said he wasn’t as please with their second-half effort as he was with the first half.
Burlingame was led by Jake Thompson with 25 points. Stephen Stutesman led Madison with 12 points.
Burlingame improves to 18-2, while Madison finishes their season at 10-10.
Burlingame will play Olpe in the Sub-State Semi-finals Friday with tip-off at 7:30p.
Olpe advances after out scoring Bishop Seabury 74-64.
Lyndon advances to the semi-finals after out scoring Wabaunsee 75-29. The Tigers will play Jackson Heights Friday in the 6pm game at Wabaunsee.

The Chase County boys defeated Peabody 69-37 for their first win of the season. They willplay Centre in the semi-finals Friday at Peabody.
The Lebo girls defeated Marmaton Valley 50-20. The Lady Wolves will play St. Paul Friday in the semi-finals at St. Paul.
In 3A play
The Council Grove girls defeated West Franklin 52-46. They will play Wellsville Friday at Wellsville.
Mission Valley girls out scored Perry Lecompton 53-25. They will play Rossville Friday at Silver Lake.
