The season came to an end for the Emporia High girls basketball team Wednesday last night, but they did not go down without a fight. Wichita Heights out scored the Lady Spartans 67-60 in a 5A Semi-final sub-state game.
Heights led by 13 in the first half before Emporia High cut the deficit to 8 by halftime. Heights rebuilt the lead to 12 before Emporia High cut the deficit to 6. Coach Carolyn Dorsey was proud of the way the Lady Spartans continued to battle.
Two Lady Spartans had career nights. Taylor Milleson scored a career high 20 points. Taylor Cooper scored a career high 16 points. The Lady Spartans finish their season with a 9-12 record.
